Erin Casey
Organizing Director
Philadelphia, PA
Erin has experience in many aspects of
running volunteer and field campaigns, but her expertise is in student
organizing, conferences and trainings. After graduating from Green
Corps, the National Field School for Environmental Organizing, she was
part of the leadership team that organized ECOnference 1999 and
2001. In 2004, Erin also worked on the national staff of the New
Voters Project, which succeeded in becoming the largest grassroots
youth voter mobilization effort in this country's history, registering
over 500,000 18-to-30 year-olds to vote, and contacting more than half
a million to get out the vote.
Then, in 2007, Erin and a team of
organizers ran the recruitment and logistics for Powershift,
successfully bringing together 7,000 student activists nationally for a
conference and training. During the 2008 elections, Erin served
as Training Coordinator for an independent expenditure campaign.
In addition, she was the state director for Pennsylvania for Grassroots
Campaigns and MoveOn’s Youth Voter Registration campaign that
registered 250,000 young voters in the 8 weeks before the voter
registration deadline. Recently, she oversaw a team of organizers
that recruited close to 3,000 students to work on Grassroots
Campaigns’ 2009 summer campaigns with Amnesty International,
ACLU, Equality California, and the League of Conservation Voters.
